Every pressurized system needs a dampener.  Hydraulic systems have an accumulator designed to cope with the extremes of demand and to smooth out pulsations.  The accumulator is an energy storage device; a dampener for the system.

Organizations are pressurized systems.  And just as any pressurized system, organizations need a dampener.

Therefore, our job as leaders within our organization is to act as a dampener.  Just as an accumulator in a hydraulic system, we must cope with the extremes of demand and smooth out the pulsations in our organization.

This is not an easy task, but it is important.  When it comes to taking care of our team, dampening out pressure variations is a must.  Doing so gives our team the freedom of action and thought required to accomplish the mission.
